First:
Read the `INSTALL.txt'
On some platforms (eg Irix-6.x i think),
you might need GNU-make.
If particularly `make depend' fails with a strange error,
then you should get GNU make perhaps
(you might have it already, but need to know where and adjust you PATH).
Solaris:
`/usr/ucb/cc' won't work. Solaris is actually shipped without
compiler by default!
You will most probably have either a `gcc' or `SUNWspro Workshop'.
Otherwise you need to get a gcc-binary-package and install it,
as you won't buy Sun's Workshop for xpilot.
Local.config: comment in `#define MultibufferExtension'
Add (most probably) `/opt/SUNWspro/bin' (or where that cc resides) to the beginning of your `PATH'.
On 2.6: `xmkmf -a; make'
On 2.5:
Explanation:
openwin is sun's derivate of X11, but usually it's not configured
to do the right things when using gcc.
The MIT version is ok for this, but doesn't know about openwin...
Both work, if the compilation succeeds.
patch for Local.config, or the changed lines themselves
See above for `xmkmf'.
If your imake installation uses
`cc' instead, then look how imake is called by xmkmf, and call it
yourself instead, applying -DHasGcc
Note that there are two different architectures for HP, which are not binary compatible.
feedback welcome!
